Database Composer
A single container stack with scripts to provision isolated MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases per project.
Software Engineer
Areas of expertise: architecting and shipping reliable systems, designing resilient APIs, building and leading engineering teams, aligning engineering with business, driving technical strategy and owning outcomes, observability over guesswork.
I design and build reliable systems, while bridging the gap between technical complexity and business outcomes.
About
I am a backend-leaning lead who runs a software engineering team and still writes the code that ships. Most of my own day lives on the server side: APIs that move real volume, integrations that hold under load, and the infrastructure that decides whether a product actually works. The overlap I'm most drawn to is the one where engineering decisions and business outcomes stop being separable.
In practice, a lot of the role is mediation between teams; that's what a lead engineer is there for. The work I find most worthwhile is angling business outcomes and client feedback toward goals and features that are actually worth shipping, and keeping the underlying software in a shape colleagues can maintain without me. The second one buys time for the first, and both keep costs sensible.
My path started in frontend, turned toward the backend the moment I touched databases, and has alternated between hands-on builds and leading the people building alongside me ever since. The through-line has been end-to-end ownership of whatever I take on.
The shape of problem I keep coming back to is the same one: take on something where engineering and business stakes are both real, overshoot the line that was asked for, and pass what I learned on to whoever's working alongside me. I am stoic about the results and stubborn about the work behind them. Outside of that, I'm usually chasing the next thing I don't yet know how to do well.
Currently
Working on becoming a steadier leader: getting better at guiding people to finish their part of the work without me standing over it, and building patience to match. On the technical side I'm going deeper on DevOps practice and the server-side infrastructure and pipelines underneath the systems I ship.
Open to collaborations, consulting, and interesting conversations.
